Paper Mario PC port "Paper Boat" gets its first public release

After being in the works for quite a while now, the latest project from the Harbour Masters team finally makes port. You can now download the first release of Paper Boat on Windows, Mac, and Linux, with the game being playable from start to finish. At the time of writing there aren't a huge number of enhancements, with the game supporting custom aspect ratios and a few cheats. There is a mod menu included though, so I'll be excited to see what the community comes up with for the game.

As...

Steam Frame price revealed, waiting open until 17th September

ICYMI: After an accidental leaking of their review video from Linus Tech Tips last week, we somewhat knew that news on Steam's latest VR venture was imminent. Today the product page has been updated, with a few new details revealed for the first time. The headset is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and runs an ARM64 version of SteamOS. Through this you'll be able to natively run some of your Steam games directly on the headset itself. It should be noted however that the Steam Frame is listed as a...

It’s all about Fire Emblem - the hot games this week

ICYMI: Last week I fished four games out of the ether that looked interesting, and actually ended up both buying and very much enjoying two of them. If you enjoy a roguelike as much as I do, be sure to give Wanderburg and The Loopler a look. This week I figured I’d do the same dive, albeit maybe a little shallower. You see this week I really only have one game on the mind.

It’s finally here. Or at least it will be on Thursday. I’ve been looking forward to this since it was first announced, and...

The GPU is smoking, the FPS is falling off a cliff, but damn - it was worth it.

The weekend is here, what are you playing?

ICYMI: It's been something of a quiet week in the gaming space, with the deluge of big hitters trying to find their place before GTA 6 launches really kicking off next week. Even so we've had some good releases; Valheim got its 1.0 release, there's a new Legend of Heroes game, and Mewgenics found its way onto the Switch 2. Coming into the weekend now, what are you playing? Are you keeping yourself occupied with new games, or digging deep into the backlog?

On my side of the fence it's a heck of a...

"Autologic" dungeon crawler 'Dungeon Automata' gets new trailer and demo

ICYMI: Dungeon Automata is an upcoming dungeon crawler game from developer Medium-Rare Games, and it packs a twist to the genre. The developers term it as an "autologic" whereby players visually script their party to progress across the in-game labyrinth. Swedish indie publisher Raw Fury and Japan-based publisher Kakehashi Games announced their co-partnership with Medium-Rare Games to publish Dungeon Automata, and aired a new trailer to accompany the announcement:

In Dungeon Automata, players...

'Stack Order', a narrative-driven deckbuilder, announced

ICYMI: French indie team Panflip Studio have announced their debut game: Stack Order, a narrative-driven roguelite deckbuilder. For the occasion, a gameplay trailer was aired:

Stack Order is a narrative roguelite deckbuilder set in a world defined by tense, one-on-one duels against bosses with unique attack patterns, where each battle is a battle of wits. Learn from your enemies and devise a counter-strategy to survive and win.

Victory is not only determined by your cards, but the order in...

Firmware 23.0.0 released for Switch and Switch 2, brings docked VRR to Switch 2

ICYMI: It's that time again folks, an update for the Switch and Switch 2, and a surprisingly big one at that! At lease for folks on the Switch 2. The most notable feature this time around is the addition of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) when docked on the Switch 2. This was available from launch, but only when playing in handheld mode. For those who aren't familiar with the technology, VRR essentially makes a compatible display refresh at the same rate the system is pushing out frames. That means if...
